Methodology

How we compare the Maldives and the UAE

A short, plain-English account of the criteria behind every destination and stay comparison on autotunhing.com, and of the limits of what that data can tell you.

  1. 01

Seasonality is described as a historical pattern

Each month carries rainfall, temperature and a relative price band drawn from past records. We do not promise weather, and we do not label a month as the guaranteed best time to travel.

  2. 02

    Location is measured, not described

Resort rows state airport distance, whether access is by speedboat or seaplane, and a typical transfer time. An atoll or emirate name alone tells you very little about a journey.

  3. 03

    Accommodation tiers explain what changes

Room type, meal plan, beach access, transfer inclusion and resort fees are listed beside each tier, so a price step can be read as a list of differences rather than a star rating.

  4. 04

Prices carry their exclusions and a date

Figures are indicative bands checked on the date shown under each table. Flights, visas, insurance and on-site extras are usually excluded, and availability and final prices must be confirmed at booking.

Methodology · criteria and sources

Four criteria, each carrying a dated source note

The Maldives and the UAE are compared on the same four axes so a row in one matrix can be read against a row in another. Every figure shows the month we last checked it.

  1. Seasonality and conditions

Month-by-month rainfall, temperature range, and relative price band, shown as historical patterns rather than promised weather. No month is labelled as the guaranteed best time to travel, because monsoon timing shifts between atolls and years.

Source note: resort rate sheets and meteorological summaries checked March 2025.

  2. Resort location and transfer

Distance to the nearest airport, speedboat or seaplane access, and typical transfer duration sit beside every destination row. Emirates entries list road transfer time from the airport instead, since no boat leg applies.

Source note: transfer schedules and island distances checked February 2025.

  3. Accommodation category

Tiers from guesthouse to overwater villa explain what actually changes: room type, meal plan, beach access, transfer inclusion, resort fees, and the extras most likely to appear on the final bill.

Source note: published rate inclusions reviewed February 2025.

  4. Visa and entry notes

Entry summaries point to the official Maldives immigration portal and the UAE identity and citizenship authority. We describe published requirements only and never imply that entry, a visa, or an approval is guaranteed.

Source note: government notices checked March 2025; confirm again before departure.

Scope limits

What this site does not promise

Our comparisons cover conditions we can trace to a source and a date. They do not replace a booking confirmation, a visa decision, or a weather forecast.

Review dates and source lists sit on the criteria and sources page; what a price band leaves out is covered under pricing exclusions.

Methodology / Pricing

What the price we show does and does not cover

Every figure on this site rests on a stated rate basis. Anything outside that basis is listed below so you can add it to your own budget before you commit to a booking.

Excluded from every figure we publish

  • Airport transfers. Speedboat, seaplane and private car transfers are separate line items unless a row explicitly says transfer included.
  • Visa and entry charges. Applications, biometrics and government fees are paid by you, and approval is never guaranteed.
  • Travel and medical insurance, including the cover some island resorts require at check-in.
  • Meals on a room-only rate. Breakfast is not automatic at every tier.

Depends on the rate you choose

  • Meal plans. Half board and all-inclusive shift the price substantially. We print all-inclusive only when the full plan list sits in the rate we cite.
  • Resort and tourism fees, sometimes collected at check-in in the emirates and on the atolls.
  • Green tax and environment levies in the Maldives, usually charged per person per night.
  • Seasonal surcharges for beachfront or overwater positions that appear only in certain months.

Optional extras

  • Late checkout, room upgrades on arrival and specific room requests.
  • Spa treatments, diving courses, excursions and equipment rental.
  • Alcohol outside an inclusive plan and minibar consumption.
  • Cots and extra beds, often free but always subject to a request.
